Modric went down in the first half against Birmingham City two weeks ago, and despite being able to walk off, it was later discovered he suffered a broken leg. In order to bolster their midfield, the Spurs acquired Niko Kranjcar from Portsmouth. Manchester United is still without injured players such as Edwin Van Der Saar and Rio Ferdinand, but are performing as strongly as ever and keeping themselves in the hunt atop the table.
