Manchester United brought an end to Tottenham Hotspurs’ perfect start last weekend, beating Spurs 3-1 in London. The Red Devils have recovered nicely from a disappointing 1-0 loss at Burnley in the second week of the season to jump into second place in the Premier League table. Manchester United was active in the midweek as they traveled to Turkey to open their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign. United came away with a 1-0 victory over Besiktas after Paul Scholes headed home the winner 13 minutes from time. Both sides have injury questions entering this weekend’s derby. United captain Rio Ferdinand returned from a calf injury last weekend against Tottenham, but missed the game against Besiktas with a groin injury. The injury could keep Ferdinand out of this weekend’s fixture. Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland missed the second half of City’s victory over Arsenal last weekend when he aggravated an ankle injury.
