Jonathon Greening also joined Fulham before the transfer deadline, coming over from West Bromwich Albion on a season long loan deal that Fulham hopes will become permanent next summer. Everton, looking to replace Joleon Lescott defensively, picked up Dutch international defender John Heitinga from Atletico Madrid and Sylvain Distin from Portsmouth, the latter an excellent acquisition.
